Proud Parent of FPE Student!

My son is enrolled as a High School Freshman in FreedomProject Education.  It’s like college for high schoolers!  It’s very challenging but he is enjoying it, especially his Independent Reading class.  The point of the class is to teach them how to glean important information from important foundational sources, how to apply it to today’s circumstances and how to internalize it so that it becomes a part of who they will become.

He LOVES being a young conservative in a class where conservatism is, not only respected, but valued.   His other classes this trimester are Algebra and LATIN!  And he’ll take both US History and American Studies.  And he’ll be learning English (as in the English Language – parts of speech and sentence structure and all of that!)

For his 3 classes he has 3 teachers in 3 different states, but they are all so available to us, that it has worked out really well.  The professors post class-time videos that you can watch on your own time and then they make themselves available twice a week for live “Teacher Talk” where the students can join in discussion and ask any questions.  Of course, the teachers are available any time through e-mail also.

The assignments are posted on the Internet and when the student completes them, he uploads them at the same location and they go immediately to the teacher.   As the teachers grade each of the assignments, the grades are posted to the student’s page so we know exactly how he’s doing on every single assignment.

I understand that this is their very first year, but you would never know it because the program runs so well and all the tools we need to succeed are available to us.
