Montana Reclaiming Constitutional Powers

The concept of constitutionality, of the rule of law, and the limitation of government is again coming into vogue, with it's old champion, the United States Constitution again acting as the bulwark of limited government and liberty. The importance of this issue, the re invigoration of local and state power and the rejection of overarching federal control on every aspect of law and liberty is enormous, regardless of the cause at hand, or the area of individual rights that is addressed.

Republic vs Democracy

Republic? Democracy?

It seems that there is more than a little confusion these days about the form of government the founders created. And after all, is there a difference? Does it really matter?  The FreedomProject believes there IS a difference, and that it matters a great deal.

If you frequent this site, you will note the quotes that are so numerous in the "Heritage" section which reflect the founders views. College vs Constitution A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth to the needy.

She was ashamed of her father, a staunch Constitutionalist, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with an enlightened professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored a selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

News Flash!

Assault WeaponsNewsflash!

The governor of one Eastern state, fed up with the proliferation of military-type assault weapons in his jurisdiction, and concerned about recent heavy purchases of such firearms and reported stockpiling of ammunition, stated that he was moving to outlaw these weapons and their ammunition and declare them contraband.

In a closed and secretive meeting of federal, state government and military officials last night,  the governor apparently finalized plans for a massive operation to round up the guns and ammunition in a house to house, city to city search.  The basis of the operation was evidently the refusal of many citizens to voluntarily turn in the weapons as ordered by the government.
