Students as young as 11-years old in a suburb of Atlanta were forced to complete “homework” and a “quiz” dealing with “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” — even after their parents tried to “opt out.” According to news reports, outraged parents apparently did not realize what government schools were “teaching” these days.
The controversial homework assignment, handed out in Georgia’s DeKalb County School District, included questions about the proper terminology used to refer to men who are attracted to men (“gay”), women who are attracted to women (“lesbian”), and people who are attracted to both men and women (“bisexual”).
Students were also expected to know that “queer” is a “broad term that can include gay, lesbian, and bisexual people, as well as others who don’t identify as straight.” Meanwhile, a “person who identifies as a woman” is apparently supposed to be referred to as a “female” (even if they are male) and “a person who identifies as a man” is supposedly a “male,” regardless of their chromosomes.
Apparently, to the gender theorists, homosexual attractions are inborn and immutable, while biological chromosomes can be overridden based on how a person chooses to “identify.” The dubious reasoning process used to arrive at such an illogical conclusion was not provided in the document.
Parents were upset, filing complaints and going to the media. “Why are they teaching that in school? What does that have to do with life?” furious mother Octavia Parks asked Fox 5 Atlanta, vowing to bring it to the attention of the school board. “We’re talking about a sixth grader who still watches Nickelodeon. I’m not ready to explain what these words are nor what they mean.”
Perhaps even more alarming is that Parks had specifically been given assurances that such “LGBT” content would not be provided to her child. “We had a brief conversation and she assured me that this sort of thing would not happen,” Parks was quoted as saying. “Nonetheless, it is happening.”
Other parents quoted in media reports also disagreed with indoctrinating students into modern gender ideology at government schools.
A spokesperson for the district said they were aware of the “alleged event” and were working to “verify its authenticity.” “We will investigate this event and take action, as appropriate, once that investigation is completed,” the district statement said.
Of course, similar insanity is going on at schools across America, and children even younger than 11 are being targeted for this sort of indoctrination. Even the new United Nations LGBT Czar has argued repeatedly that schools worldwide must normalize the LGBT ideology, and that reaching students younger is better.
Parents who entrust their children to government schools should realize that their children will be subjected to this sort of deceitful and harmful propaganda. Even opting out or getting assurances from the teachers means nothing. It is up to parents to ensure protect their children.
