Christian Teacher Suspended for ‘Misgendering’ Student

If a teacher refused to pretend that an anorexic or bulimic student was obese, virtually everybody would recognize that as the right thing to do. But when a Christian teacher refused to use male pronouns when addressing a female student confused about her gender, the world came crashing down around him.

Math teacher Joshua Sutcliffe, who teaches at a state secondary school in Oxfordshire, referred to a female student as a girl in class one day, saying “well done girls” to the student and another female pupil. News reports suggested he has been calling the student by name, too, rather than referring to her as “he” or “him.”

The problem, though, is that the female student claims to “identify” as a “boy,” despite being created female complete with female chromosomes. The teacher did not mean any harm by it, and says the “well done girls” remark was accidental. Citing his Christian faith, though, Sutcliffe admits that he has chosen to use the girl’s name rather than using male pronouns.

Apparently, in the United Kingdom, “misgendering” a deluded pupil who is or claims to be confused about his or her gender can be a firing offense. Seriously. So the teacher was dragged into an “investigation” by school officials following a complaint by the parents. And he could even lose his job.

“I was absolutely shocked to be told by the head that I was under investigation. I didn’t know what was happening. It was surreal, Kafkaesque,” the teacher was quoted as saying in the Mail on Sunday. “I said it was only one incident for which I had apologized, but he insisted the investigation would go ahead.”

The teacher said he felt it would be a violation of his human rights to force him to address the girl using male pronouns. “I had always tried to respect the pupil and keep a professional attitude as well as my integrity, but it seemed to me that the school was trying to force me to adhere to its liberal, Leftish agenda,” he added.

Sutcliffe, who pastors an evangelical church, also had his voluntary Bible club, held during lunch, shut down by school officials. The reason: a complaint about “homophobia” after he answered a student’s question on marriage by saying that God defines marriage in the Bible as being between a man and a woman.

If the girl in question were confused about her weight and mistakenly claimed to believe that she was morbidly obese, rather than male, everybody would see clearly how absurd it would be to force teachers to call the girl fat. But in this emerging Brave New World in the West built on lies, as in the totalitarian regimes of the last century, everybody must play along with the establishment’s destructive falsehoods, or be utterly destroyed.

It will not be long until this full-blown insanity reaches the shores of America with devastating consequences — unless parents take action by the millions, now, to protect their children from the assault. Morality, truth, and civilization are all on the line.
