33% of Baltimore Schools Have NO Students Proficient in Math

Despite some of the highest spending per pupil in America, more than a dozen government high-schools in Baltimore, Maryland, have failed to produce even one single student proficient in mathematics this year. Not that any of the students would know it, but that number represents a third of the 39 government high-schools in the city.

The other schools in Baltimore are not doing much better, according to Project Baltimore, the group that first published the findings. Another six, for instance, had just one percent of students scoring “proficient” on the already dumbed-down math tests. Out of those 19 government schools, more than 3,800 took the federally mandated state test — and just 14 students scored proficient.

This is not the first time the city’s government schools have been exposed as beyond a disaster. Indeed, as The Newman Report documented earlier this year, a half-dozen Baltimore schools could not produce a single student proficient in reading or math.

Incredibly, even at the government-funded charter school being touted as a model of “progress,” less than 15 percent of students were proficient in math. Apparently, in Baltimore’s disastrous government “education” world, going from 9 percent proficiency to 14.4 percent proficiency means something is “working.”

The man who runs the boys-only charter school in Baltimore pointed out that reading scores among government-school victims in the city are terrible, too. “Nine out of ten black boys in Baltimore City are not reading at grade level,” he was quoted as saying. The real numbers are probably even worse.

Similar rates of illiteracy exist across America among the victims of government schools. The reason for that is simple: Virtually every government school in America, as mandated under Common Core, “teaches” so-called “reading” using methods exposed as total quackery more than 150 years ago.

Government officials in Baltimore overseeing the dumbing down and indoctrination of the city’s children, as usual, claimed they needed more time. “These results underscore the urgency of the work we are now pursuing. We must do more to meet the needs of all our students,” officials said in a statement. “There is no simple answer that will close the achievement gap for Baltimore’s students. Though we all want to see results quickly, the work is hard and will take time.”

Unfortunately, Baltimore is simply the tip of the iceberg. As The Newman Report documented on June 7, less than half of California’s government-school victims scored proficient in reading. And in Washington, D.C., a staggering two thirds of ADULTS are functionally illiterate, according to a State Education Agency report. This is all deliberate.

It would be hard to do a worse job educating children if one was deliberately trying to turn them into life-long illiterates incapable of even basic thinking. And in fact, there is a huge amount of evidence showing that the architects of the disaster – John Dewey and company — were trying to do precisely that. Responsible parents must do everything in their power to protect their children from this horrific abuse. America and its liberties are at stake, too.
