America’s infamous teachers’ unions are reeling after an undercover sting by Project Veritas exposed “education” labor bosses admitting, among other scandals, to protecting teachers who are child molesters and child abusers. As outrage grows, the unions are now asking federal courts to block further disclosures. But the damage is already done.
Perhaps the most serious scandal highlighted by PV so far involves Union City Education Association President Kathleen Valencia. “This file right here is from a teacher who had sex with a student,” Valencia boasts in the hidden-camera video. “This file is about whether or not the teacher gets to keep his pension. Is he going to jail? No. How come? Because the child’s not pressing charges. There’s no proof.”
When asked if it was normal for labor unions to protect public-school teachers who abuse students, Valencia responds, “it happens, yes it does!” The union boss was also caught coaching people to lie to authorities and school officials. And lest anyone think the problem surrounds a few “bad apples,” the truth is that Big Labor’s defense of even the most heinous acts by teachers is ubiquitous across America.
That scandal with Valencia followed another, similar one in which James O’Keefe’s undercover journalists recorded Hamilton Township Education Association boss David Perry making similarly outlandish statements. “I’m here to defend even the worst people,” said Perry, boasting that he will “bend the truth” to protect criminal teachers and cover up child abuse at government schools.
Incredibly, after getting caught, the unions rushed to attack the journalists who exposed it all. “Project Veritas cannot be trusted as a source and should not be dignified with coverage or response, other than to note that it is a political advocacy organization with a history of using dishonest and illegal tactics to fabricate false stories,” the New Jersey Education Association was quoted as saying by NJ.com. In Michigan, Big Labor bosses even asked the courts to prohibit publication of the information.
O’Keefe, who founded Project Veritas, blasted the reaction. “Project Veritas does not engage in illegal activities – we follow both the letter and the spirit of the law,” he said. “This is clearly just an attempt to hide their dirty laundry and protect themselves from what we uncovered: but at the expense of who?” He vowed that his organization would do everything possible to get the information out. While the unions may not want Americans to know, O’Keefe said he was sure parents wanted to learn more.
Of course, the big teachers’ unions have been corrupt — and dominated by immoral totalitarians — for generations, as revealed in the book NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education. In addition to having leadership packed with communists, the big unions have also been at the forefront of centralizing and dumbing down American education. They have been leaders in promoting perversion and moral relativism to children, too.
These are the same teachers’ unions that lobby to outlaw or further regulate homeschooling. “The National Education Association believes that home schooling programs based on parental choice cannot provide the student with a comprehensive education experience,” the NEA said in its annual homeschooling resolution, as if beatings, drugs, leftist indoctrination, and sex with teachers was part of a “comprehensive education experience.”
That the teachers’ unions are corrupt to the core is no surprise to anybody who has been involved in education. The fact that it took the small group Project Veritas to blow these stories wide open is a sad testament about the sorry state of America’s so-called “Fourth Estate.” In short, the media establishment and the education establishment are a disgrace to themselves and America. It is time for Americans to abandon both as quickly as possible.
