A new globalism-promoting “morality” test to be used by government schools in the United Arab Emirates has education watchdogs sounding the alarm. The standardized assessment will center on so-called “social and emotional learning,” a new frontier in education that is meant to scientifically indoctrinate students with government-approved attitudes, values, and beliefs. Meet the Moral Education Standardized Assessment (MESA).
Pushing students to the “correct” beliefs and values is the goal. In fact, the test creators and the government make that clear, saying the effort is supposed to “develop responsible, cultured, engaged adults ready for the wider globalized world.” The so-called “global objective” of the scheme, they said, is to “develop student awareness of the shared human experience and make them messengers of the values they embody.”
ACT Chief Commercial Officer Suzana Delanghe could barely contain her glee. “We are thrilled to be supporting a holistic approach to student success,” she said. “We know that social and emotional learning skills are crucial to success in school and life and these skills can be taught and developed over time. With their learning and measurement expertise, our teams will create a world-class assessment that measures UAE student readiness, so teachers can more effectively foster the shared cultural values across UAE’s diverse communities.”
Director of the Education Affairs Office at the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, also bragged. “Moral Education is an innovative, engaging curriculum designed to develop young people of all nationalities and ages in the UAE with universal principles and values that reflect the shared experiences of humanity,” he was quoted as saying in the official press release.
According to Al Nuaimi, the “morality” curriculum was introduced in 2017 on orders from “His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” the crown prince of Abu Dhabi. “Through the MESA, we plan to assess the impact of Moral Education over time in an independent and standardized manner,” Al Nuaimi said, adding that the tests would measure more than just knowledge and understanding — everything from “character traits” to “values” will be tracked and monitored.
Aside from Islamic sharia law, globalism will be a preeminent value. The Islamic government of the United Arab Emirates has even hosted the “World Government Forum” — yes, it’s really called that — for more than five years now. Last year, it was held under a replica of the Arch of Baal. Yes, that Baal. And every year, globalizing education under the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a key topic.
There should be no doubt that eventually, this “morality assessment” will be spreading outward. Indeed, the standardized test is being developed by the organization behind the ACT, one of America’s two leasing standardized assessment creators and a key player in the education establishment. Government officials worldwide seem to be on board.
In the United States, U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and her predecessors have been working to globalize education, too. As The Newman Report noted just this month, DeVos purported to commit the U.S. government to globalist indoctrination at the G-20 meeting. Before that, Obama’s Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, was blabbering about using schools to turn children into green “global citizens” to anyone who would listen.
Forbes education contributor and 40-year teaching veteran Peter Greene concluded with a warning. “First, the test will likely be digital, and therefore captured as more data for the test taker’s personal permanent file,” he said. “Second, while the program is being piloted for UAE, once ACT has it built, they’re sure to want to market it other places as well. Keep your eyes peeled for the standardized morality test at a school near you.”
Obviously, “morality” education is not inherently bad. If children are being taught biblical morality — do not steal, do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not lie, and so on — then all is well. Unfortunately, the globalist education establishment has very different “morals” in mind. This has “recipe for global disaster” written all over it. Parents, beware.
