Responding to ongoing bumbling and “pathetic failure” by the Biden administration on re-opening government schools, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted the new regime for serving special interests instead of advocating for children and blue-collar and middle-class families.
DeSantis, who has become a rising conservative superstar by ignoring establishment demands to implement tyranny under the guise of fighting COVID19, noted that the elites do not mind the public schools being closed. That is because their children go to private schools that are all open.
“The wealthy son and daughters of, say, elected officials and other powerful people, they’re sending their kids in person in private schools, but they’re not affording that right to the folks who need to go to the public school system,” DeSantis fumed.
Ridiculing the “guidance” issued by Biden’s Centers for Disease Control, the popular Florida governor said it would result in shutting down nine out of ten government schools nationwide. In Florida, government schools stayed open virtually all the time throughout the national hysteria over coronavirus.
DeSantis had tough words for Biden’s ongoing buffoonery of promising to re-open schools in the first 100 days, then waffling. “It’s a pathetic failure of leadership to not stand up for these kids and for these families,” explained the Florida governor, who was relentlessly demonized by the fake media.
But there is a method to Biden’s apparent madness. “This is just purely being subservient to a special interest, and Biden has been one of the worst in it, because when he says, ‘My goal is to get 50% of the schools in person in 100 days,’ we’ve already had that,” DeSantis said.
That “special interest” is Big Labor—and especially the teachers’ unions that wield so much power in Democrat politics. “His goal should have been yesterday to get everybody back in school, but he can’t do that because he doesn’t want to upset the teachers’ union,” DeSantis argued.
On the flip side, as government schools have been shut down, there has been a massive exodus into the safe sanctuary of private schools and homeschooling. As reported by The Newman Report, polls show that the number of homeschooling families has more than doubled since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the number of victims trapped in government schools is plummeting, with official data showing that some districts are losing as 10 percent or even more in enrollment. Now, “education” officials are in a panic as looming funding cuts threaten their power and control.
Responding to extreme indoctrination and realizing that there are much better options, millions of Americans parents have realized during the pandemic that their children need to be removed from public schools. The longer the teachers’ unions resist going back to school, the more parents will wake up.
Under the U.S. Constitution, there is no legitimate role for the federal government in education. That prohibition on federal meddling obviously extends to questions about when or how or if government schools should be re-opened.
It is easy to score political points on the issue against Biden and the Democrats. However, the reality is that Americans and especially children would be far better off if the indoctrination centers posing as “public schools” stayed shuttered forever.
